Passport

Does the Embassy issue Machine Readable Passports (MRPs)?

Yes, the Embassy of Pakistan Abu Dhabi issues MRPs. For more information, please see Machine Readable Passport Section.

What form of payment do you accept?

The fee is deposited at the bank counter of the Counsellor Hall in cash only. There is an ATM machine placed outside the Counsellor Hall for cash withdrawl.

What is the size/background of the photos required for Passport/NICOP?

No photographs are required for MRP/SNICOP renewal. Photographs are digitally taken at the Embassy.

My passport is still valid for one year. Can I apply for renewal of Passport?

You can apply for renewal of Passport when the expiry date is six months or less. Otherwise, the applicant has to furnish an affidavit mentioning a genuine reason for renewal e.g., the passport is damaged or the pages are consumed up or any specific requirement for visas.

Can apply online for renewal of my Machine Readable Passport ?

Yes, Now Pakistani citizens can use e-Services Portal to apply for renewal of Machine Readable Passport, if the passport has expired OR its validity is less than 6 months. Please use the link below to proceed to the e-Services Portal: http://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk/

Child Registration

What is the purpose for registration of Birth of children?

The Registration of Birth of Child is required to obtain NICOP and MRP for further processing of UAE residence visa.

What is the age limit for registration of child?

Children born to Pakistani national parents can be registered with the Embassy before 4 months from the date of birth.  As per the UAE laws, residence visa of the new born must be obtained before 120 days from the date of birth.

My husband/wife is a foreign national can I apply for child registration?

If one of the parents is Pakistani national, he or she can apply for child registration.

What is Child Registration Certificate (CRC)? Is it the same as the Registration of Child?

No. The CRC is issued by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and this is a permanent document. Child Registration is a temporary document to provide services of immediate nature.

My child has National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistani (NICOP), do I need to apply for his/her registration?

No. You do not need to apply for his/her registration.

NICOP/POC

What is the difference between NICOP and POC ?

NICOP is an abbreviation for “National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis”. It is issued to Pakistani citizens only. Whereas, POC means “Pakistan Origin Card” and it is issued to persons who were formerly Pakistani Citizens but later gave up their nationality. The benefits of having NICOP and POC are as follows: NICOP enables a person to apply for a Pakistani Machine Readable (MRP) Passport. Please note that while abroad CNIC is not sufficient to apply for MRP. In case of dual nationality, NICOP enables its holder to travel to Pakistan on other country’s passport without Pakistani visa. All other privileges of Pakistani nationality while in Pakistan are also afforded to holders of NICOP like purchase of property, purchase of local mobile SIMs etc. POC holders enjoy all benefits as NICOP holders except that they are not able to apply for Pakistani passports.

Can minors (under 18) apply for NICOP?

Yes. All the children of Pakistani parents born outside Pakistan are eligible for NICOP after completing requirements. For more details see the NADRA Section of the website.

How do I get the NICOP form attested?

Any Pakistani citizen holding CNIC or SNICOP can attest the form.

Do I really need my parent's NIC number for NICOP or POC Application?

In order to facilitate processing of your application in Pakistan you must provide the NIC/NICOP/CNIC numbers of your parents if they are alive and currently Pakistani citizens. If the parents are not alive just write DECEASED.

Do I need to fill column 2 “Family head NIC number” in the NICOP or POC Application form?
Yes.
I need to change my name. What do I do?

To apply under a name other than what is on your supporting documentation, you need valid proof of name change. This can be a Marriage Certificate, Divorce Papers or Court Order of the name change.

Attestation of Documents/Power of Attorney

What is Power of Attorney?

Power of Attorney is a document in which a person authorizes another person to act on his behalf in different matters/cases like court cases, care and sale of property etc..

Where can I get Power of Attorney? Can I get it from Embassy?

The Embassy only attest the documents. You may contact any lawyer for making your Power of Attorney as per your desire.

Who can be witness on Power of Attorney?

Any person(also family member) holder of CNIC/NICOP/POC can be witness on Power of Attorney.

Can embassy provide witnesses?

No. It is the sole responsibility of the Executant of Power of Attorney for completion of all requirements.

What is the processing time for attestation of Power of Attorney.

The embassy attests Power of Attorney on the same day, however, it can take up to 12to 3hours.
