The independent and sovereign state of Pakistan came into existence on August 14, 1947, following the partition of British India. Positioned between 23.35 to 37.05 north latitude and 60.50 to 77.50 east longitude, it spans from the Hindukush Mountains in the north to the Arabian Sea, covering the region from the Pamirs.
Encompassing an area of 796,095 square kilometres, Pakistan is estimated to have a population of 220,892,340 people as of mid-year 2020, according to United Nations data. It is divided into four provinces:
Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Climatically, Pakistan enjoys a considerable measure of variety. During winter, the high mountainous ranges in the north and northwest are characterized by extremely cold conditions, whereas the summer months from April to September offer a very pleasant climate.
With an agricultural-based economy, the nation relies on a canal network to irrigate a significant portion of its cultivated land. Major crops include wheat, cotton, rice, millet, and sugar cane. Abundant fruits such as mangoes, oranges, bananas, and apples thrive in various regions. The primary natural resources encompass natural gas, coal, salt, and iron. The President oversees the governance and management of the country. The country has an expanding industry. Cotton, textiles, sugar, cement, and chemicals are significant contributors to its economic landscape.
